Job Description

Fulton Hogan's Tasmanian team are going through a very exciting period of growth, no more so than the recently awarded Northeast Tasmania Road Maintenance contract on behalf of the Department of State Growth.

Fulton Hogan will deliver a network wide maintenance contract of 1300km of State Roads Network, including a small number of unsealed roads in the North East corner of Tasmania. This will include:

  • Reactive routine maintenance and rapid response including pothole repairs, roadside furniture reinstatement, temporary pavement repairs and drain cleaning.
  • Preventative pavement maintenance programs such as asphalt resurfacing and rehabilitation, and unsealed road and road shoulder grading.
  • Amenity improvement programs including grass mowing, weed spraying, and street and footpath sweeping.

About the Role:

We are looking for a hands-on project accountant / cost controller to join our team based in Mowbray. Reporting to the local Finance Manager and working closely with the Operations Manager & broader team. The role will be responsible for day to day accounting function for the contract, to ensure accurate revenue and cost tracking, monthly claim submission, month end close off and project reporting.

Responsible for:

  • Preparing and submitting the monthly claim to the client, including managing the process to ensure all required documentation is accurately collated and submitted on time, and tracking claim progress.
  • End to end project cycle accounting for minor works issued by the client, including job maintenance, revenue recognition, reviews and close out.
  • Completing month end close in line with company deadlines, including responsibility for accruals, journals, variance analysis and project financial reporting.
  • Assisting with subcontractor contract administration & invoice review/approval processes, including internal subcontractors.
  • Maintain the team’s purchase orders, including the processes for raising, coding, monitoring & closing out POs.
  • Understanding of electronic daily reports and timesheets to ensure accurate recording of resources by operational team as used for accruals, costing, analysis & claiming purposes, this will also include training operational team.
  • Assisting with Fleet Administration

How you will connect to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance & Accounting
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • 3+ years experience working in either infrastructure or construction
  • Clear communication skills with an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
