Position: Store Manager (Retail)

Location: Dover, Tasmania

Employment Type: Full-time (38 hours/week)

Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 + Superannuation

About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Store Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of our supermarket. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong commercial awareness, team management capability, and operational control across all areas of the store.

The successful candidate will work closely with the business owner to drive store performance, ensure compliance, and maintain high operational standards in line with business and customer expectations.

The Role will be responsible for:

·Manage and oversee daily store operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and profitable performance

·Develop and implement promotional and merchandising strategies based on sales trends and local customer demand (in line with IGA guidelines)

·Plan, implement, and monitor staff rosters to ensure efficient workforce utilisation, maintain service standards, and control wage expenditure in line with store budgets

·Monitor and manage inventory levels, including ordering, stock rotation, shrinkage control, and supplier coordination

·Analyse sales performance, gross profit margins, and operating costs, and implement strategies to improve financial outcomes

·Prepare and manage budgets, cost controls, and operational reporting

·Lead recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management of staff

·Maintain high standards of store presentation, merchandising, and layout optimisation

·Ensure compliance with food safety standards, WHS requirements, and relevant retail regulations

·Monitor and enforce loss prevention and security procedures

·Manage customer service standards and resolve customer enquiries or complaints effectively

·Contribute to purchasing decisions and product range planning based on sales trends and customer demand

·Coordinate in-store promotions, catalogues, and local marketing initiatives

·Support and guide staff in delivering product knowledge and high-quality customer service

Qualifications and Experience:

·Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience

·Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a retail management or supervisory role, preferably in supermarkets or FMCG retail

·Demonstrated experience in managing store operations, including inventory control, merchandising, and staff supervision

·Strong understanding of retail performance metrics such as sales targets, gross profit margins, stock control, and wage cost management

·Experience using POS systems, stock management systems, and basic reporting tools

·Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced retail environment

·Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

·Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
